An Oscar Viewing Party Starring Bigelow Tea With Life of Pi

What could be better than an Oscar viewing party to root for Best Picture nominee, Life of Pi. An Oscar viewing party with Bigelow Tea to cheer on Best Picture nominee, Life of Pi. When we were asked to have a party starring Bigelow Tea and to root for Life of Pi to win Best Picture – how could we say no?   Watching the Oscars with friends along with Bigelow Tea and Life of Pi – sounded like a perfect evening.

Before the party, we shopped at Walmart for the tea where we were able to find numerous flavors.  We also bought snacks and decorations at Walmart, in addition to other stores.

We decorated for the party using a Hollywood Theme and Life of Pi decorations while also incorporating Bigelow Tea.  Did you know that Bigelow Tea is more than a drink?  Finding recipes on their website is super easy.  We made several recipes including a Pomegranate Yogurt Dip to be served with fruit.   This recipe was a huge hit, leaving the guests thinking I was a pro in the kitchen.  And what’s an Oscar party without a celebratory drink, Bigelow’s, I Love Lemon Gin Fizz, was also delicious.  There are numerous recipes that can all be found on the Bigelow website.

Besides food and decorations, what’s a party without games?  My guests and I played Oscar Bingo and of course filled out an Oscar Ballot, all while wearing our Hollywood glasses.  Having the games, made the party and the Oscars more interesting as we had to see who cried during their speech, who swore they didn’t prepare a speech and many more interesting things to look for from the actors and actresses.  Besides the activities, we also discussed why we wanted Life of Pi to win Best Picture.  The movie is a shipwreck story told in 3-D. Winning four awards, including musical score, cinematography and visual effects are just a few of the reasons we were rooting for the movie.

I am a huge fan of Bigelow tea. Why Bigelow tea? One of the reasons is the company, that began in 1945, by Ruth Bigelow, is family owned. A woman who started her company in her own home and grew it to be what it is today.   She endured the challenges of owning a business during the depression.  The company is still family owned today.

Another reason I am a fan of the Bigelow brand are the numerous choices of teas. They include black tea, green tea, herbal tea, herb plus, decaffeinated tea, seasonal tea, American classic tea, iced tea, organic tea, loose tea and many more. The tea flavors come in a wide variety and range from mint and lemon to vanilla and pomegranate just to name a few.

Bigelow tea also focuses on quality.  All of the tea is individually wrapped in a foil pouch making it so that you always get a fresh cup of tea.

To help celebrate the Life of Pi’s nomination for Best Picture (along with the movie winning in several categories), Bigelow tea is having a Life of Pi Sweepstakes, which will run from February 20 – March 20. Click here to enter the sweepstakes.

The Life of Pi DVD and Blu-ray being available on March 12 at Walmart.
